I could see their form and continue with circuits, but for me, direct eye contact with a trainer helps keep me in the zone at home. One funny thing I noticed was that sometimes the instructors would look at certain cameras that didn’t face the user directly. So I felt very confident trying to mirror my form exactly as the trainers. iFIT instructors must be certified through an accredited organization or have a degree in an exercise-related field. One of my biggest prerequisites for trainers before I take any class is that they’re actually certified in whatever type of modality they’re teaching. Since I don’t have an actual gym membership, I primarily used the Vault for strength training and as a way to continue to work my entire body, apart from pounding the pavement. My body doesn’t find yoga soothing or relaxing, and I get enough cardio from my long-distance runs. The Vault offers a variety of workouts such as strength training, yoga, and HIIT. Those workouts consisted of 20- to 40-minute routines, depending on how much time I had in the morning before work. But on my two or three cross-training days, I would complete a strength workout on the Vault so that my body wasn’t only doing cardio. I’m in the midst of training for the New York City Marathon, so most of my weekly workouts consist of running many miles a day. Here’s what I liked about the home gym after testing it out for a month-as well as some slight drawbacks you should be aware of. While I’m still not an avid fan of exercising in my apartment, the Vault has helped me hate the idea a lot less. The library of workouts is powered by iFIT, which hosts hundreds of workouts for different machines and the mobile app. It also comes with a closet full of equipment (for an additional cost) to use with a wide array of workouts. The NordicTrack Vault isn’t solely a mirror, obviously. But the NordicTrack Vault has changed my opinion, sort of. I have such an affinity for delineating spaces for work-professional and physical-and for lounging that I even wrote about my disdain for at-home workouts. Typically, I’m not someone who enjoys exercising where I cook dinner and watch TV.
